Full Moon Eclipse in Libra
3/25/2024 = 18 = 9
ASTROLOGICAL OVERVIEW
The full moon represents the conclusion of a cycle, and a time of rest to prepare for the next cycle. It invites us to relax, celebrate, and reflect on what we have done since the new moon, giving ourselves a chance to cherish what we’ve gained, and process our lessons learned.
Libra is the Peacemaker of the zodiac, and is in the elemental group of air, meaning it’s strengths lie in logic, community, communication, freedom, and curiosity. Libra uses these talents to create harmonious spaces where our differences can be overcome. Through curiosity, we can expand our perspectives, learning how others perceive the world and discovering our similarities.
Libra cares deeply about being a cultivator of justice, by ensuring fairness. It does this through mediation and compromise. With the moon in Libra, everyone is likely feeling a strong need to relate to one another and collaborate. We may instinctively feel desire to socialize and intuitively feel that we'll gain more through partnership rather than working independently. Most of us will be more charming and graceful at this time and the energy collectively leads toward harmonious union with others. It may be difficult to identify your emotions now without the sounding board of someone else to help you clarify that. Lean into that and seize the opportunity to connect with others for a fresh perspective on your situation.
Libra Questions: Have I ever passed a judgment on what is good or bad, and later changed my opinion? In what ways am I similar to someone else?
Sun + Mercury → Aries
Happy New Year! We are currently at the beginning of the astrological year, with the sun moving into Aries! The sun represents our sense of identity, what archetype we consciously picture as who we are. Aries, being the first sign in the zodiac, is known as the innocent youth who sees the world through fresh eyes and is not afraid to try new things or revel in feeling their emotions. When the sun is in Aries, all of nature leans into the energy of growth, especially now around the time of the spring equinox. This is the time to be clear about what you want and even boldly demand it! Be clear about your intentions and take practical steps toward manifesting them.
Mercury being the planet of intellect and communication is now sitting in the fiery energy of Aries too! This combination can lead to quick decisions and ease around risk-taking. Mercury in Aries can also make us more receptive to learning new concepts and can help us pick up new habits or ideas with greater ease. Be careful not to be too rash around this time though. Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet of action and war which may heighten impulsivity at this time.
Venus + Mars + Saturn + Neptune → Pisces
We currently have FOUR planets in Pisces! Being the final sign in the zodiac, it dualistically compliments the sun moving into Aries. Pisces, rather than seeing the world through the eyes of a beginner, sees the world partially through the lens of the other 11 signs. Having such a holistic perspective helps water Pisces in the form of empathy and understanding for what it is like to be in another person’s shoes. With an enhanced feeling of interconnectedness, Pisces knows that we are of the universe and not separate from it. It looks to create systems that will heal the collective through spiritual fulfillment and enrichment.
With Venus in Pisces, we may become more idealistic with love and overlook a partner's flaws. Beware of your rose colored glasses though. While we may collectively feel more tendency toward forgiveness and a heightened sense of compassion, we must be careful not to idealize a person or situation at this time. Mars in Pisces makes what is traditionally a more direct, outward action-oriented energy turn inward. This is a great time to cultivate spiritual faith and like its lover Venus heightens our collective compassion at this time.
Saturn is the planet of limitation, restriction and master. It rewards commitment and spends about two and a half years in each sign. Having Saturn in Pisces encourages us to experience oneness with the divine. We may be confronted more with our subconscious fears and shadows, as Saturn guides us to reflect and release them. Saturn in Pisces encourages deep self-analysis and structure for achieving our dreams.
Lastly, Neptune is the planet of imagination, spirituality, and the unseen realms. With Neptune in Pisces, there will be an even greater emphasis on all things mystical and occult. Beware of escapist tendancies now. Lean into Saturn's love for structure and couple our heightened compassion and love with practical work and a realistic outlook for what is at hand.
Venus * Jupiter and Venus * Uranus
Venus is sextile Jupiter and Uranus. Venus is the planet of love, beauty and money and Jupiter is the planet of expansion and luck. This beautiful trine between these planets makes this a very lucky day! Romance opportunities may arise and our financial well being may be improved at this time. At the very least, beauty is supported by optimism and we are keen to feel more joy today than usual. Uranus is the planet of revolution and sudden change. The sextile between it and Venus makes us all feel excitement around love and social expression. Magnetic attraction is easy to come by now and we'll find routines a bit harder to stick to since our urge for freedom and independence will be stronger than usual.
POETRY THAT MOVES US
Selected Poem by Tess Gallagher, from “Is, Is Not”
Ambition
We had our heads down
baiting hooks—three wild salmon
already turned back that morning
for the in-season hatchery silvers
now out there somewhere
counting their luck—when
under our small boat the sea
gave a roll like a giant turning over
in sleep, lifting us high so I thought
an ocean liner or freighter had
slipped up on us, the sudden heft
of its bow-wave, our matchstick toss
to depth we'd taken
for granted in order to venture there
at all. But when I looked up expecting
collision, the quash of water from their
blowholes pushed to air in unison,
a pair of gray whales not two hundred
yards away: "Look up!" I shouted so you
didn't miss the fear-banishing
of their passage that made
nothing of us. Not even death could touch
any mind of us. It was all beauty and
mystery, the kind that picks you up
effortlessly and darts through you
for just those moments
you aren't even there. Held that way
and their tons-weight bodies plunged
silently under again, I turned for proof
to you, but the clarity was passing through
as a swell under us again and the sky of the sea
set us down like a toy.
And that's the way it was, and it wasn't
any other way—just looking at each other,
helpless one through and huge with power
the next. We baited up,
dropped our herring into slack water—
two ghosts fishing for anything but whales.
Selected Poem by Jim Conlon, from “Becoming Planetary People”
An Invitation
What can I say to a world torn asunder
by devastation, anxiety and unrest?
How can I offer solace and peace?
This is my invitation.
Ponder what it means to be human,
to create beyond war and violence
a community of healing and depth.
Envision a world of engagement and hope,
an awakening to identity and purpose.
Anticipate something entirely new,
a time of discovery of past, present and future.
Make possible a world of beauty in which
each human and other-than-human
can flourish and survive.
Be convinced tomorrow can be better than today.
Become a people of destiny,
agents of engagement.
Our journey toward a purifying sun
invites us forward into the possibility
of something entirely new.
