A message from Mary and Carlo
Dear Sagrada family,
On the day our shop opened in 1994, we were thankful for the two customers who came by. Imagine our gratitude now for so many of you who have walked through the doors since then. Ideally, we would share this message with you personally. Since that would be delightful yet daunting, we are sending along this letter to explain and invite you in to the next chapter of our story.
Sagrada has been our heart and soul and livelihood for 28 years, and now it is time to hand this work over to others who can bring new energy and vision. Guided by Spirit, we have tended this garden with love, kindness and fidelity, giving it our all, and we feel grounded and solid knowing that this is the right time. Our hope is that by summer’s end, Sagrada will be in the care of new owners.
It is with anticipation and some sadness that we come to this decision. We have had the joy and blessing to work in an atmosphere of beauty where one encounters the sacred in every corner. Some of you say this place is “not a shop, it’s a sanctuary” and we understand what you mean. Each day has been a gift graced by loving interactions with people from every walk of life who are creating community and serving in a myriad of ways. We treasure our memories of the sacred events in which you have taken part that have enabled us to reach out to other communities near and far. We have also been truly blessed with a great team of co-workers since the beginning. Today Sagrada is healthy and offers opportunity for growth.
And so on this New Moon we plant a seed, trusting in the flow and awaiting the organic and magical unfolding of what may emerge. Sagrada has evolved as a kind of “living work of art”and we feel is ready for a new expression. We now begin the search for enthusiastic new owners to come forward. As we step aside, we hope that someone else’s dream may be fulfilled. We invite you to join us in this effort and to spread the word. Community has always been at the center of our work, and so we feel confident that this is how interested people will discover this opportunity.
We offer deepest bows of gratitude for the ways you have reached out with your love, support, creativity, prayers and friendship over these years. We pray that in ways perhaps unknown to us, these gifts have circled back to you. For ourselves, with faith and love in our hearts, we step into the unknown, into the sacred fertile darkness, open to new possibilities, and we are so grateful to have your good company along the way.
