The voice of Wisdom comes at 3 am.
She clears the muddy waters of the mind,
admonishing and teaching me.
She brings truth.
Thank you for your understanding and
patience as I am learning.
What I really wanted to say...
"May we keep the doors of our heart open, yes.
May we who are grieving, broken, weeping,
sick of heart, be encouraged and restored.
May we who are tired, exhausted, and despairing -
rest, and not lose heart.
May we who are not tired
take care of the others,
and work tirelessly for justice.
May those who do hateful deeds
be brought to justice.
May the burning of our black churches cease.
May the criminals be found and brought
into the public eye, prosecuted, and be held responsible for the rebuilding of the churches.
May they have to rebuild the churches
with their own hands.
May we who are privileged in this society recognize that we are, and give of our time, money, energy to call out and dismantle the systems that oppress and perpetuate hate.
May we bring an end to violence in all its forms.
May we see the love, beauty, and dignity
in every person, in all creation.
May all the hungry be fed.
May we awaken to the power of Love."
This prayer is ever-changing, never-ending.
May She anoint us to this work
as we anoint one another.
